Story: Sunrise Offering

"Sunrise Offering" depicts Navajo sisters Shan and Michelle waiting for the sunrise with the ceremonial basket of dry corn and their family's eagle feather fan. This setting at the Mittens or "Greeting Hands" formations in Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park is often seen as a landscape image but rarely appreciated with the scale of the people who live here and greet the sun each morning. The sisters are wearing a robe and a shawl made by Pendleton Woolen Mills. The robe is a limited production white Mesa Verde pattern and the shawl is the always popular white Harding pattern.

This image is available as a limited edition print and as a fine art poster.
